Our Surgery Room

Our sterile surgery room is where we perform procedures such as desexings, lump removals, hernia repairs, dew claw removals and stitch-ups, just to name a few.

Animals pick up infections just like the rest of us so it is very important that the surgeries are conducted in a sterile manner in a sterile room.

Our gaseous anaesthetic (the gas that keeps the animal asleep during surgery) is called Isoflurane.

We have several pieces of equipment that make sure that our patients receive the best of care while they are under anaesthesia. The Apalert is a device that is used to detect each breath that an animal takes whilst under general anaesthetic. The Mindray machine detects, measures and records an animal’s blood pressure and oxygen readings. This machine can also be used in certain circumstances when we need to know these readings on a conscious animal as well. When animals are under anaesthesia their body core temperature drops. We have a special heat pad that is kept in the surgery room to control body temperature whilst they are under the General Anaesthetic.

Intravenous fluids administered by a Drip Machine are given to patients during surgeries to maintain good blood pressure levels, and to counteract blood loss. All of our patients receive pain relieving medication before and after surgery to aid in their recovery.

ALL of our surgical staff have an extensive range of knowledge and experience, which is vitally important when monitoring our patients under anaesthesia.

Our Consult Room

Consultations at the clinic are all conducted in this consult room. It is important to have a separate room that is quiet and separate from other staff members, clients, patients and store customers. The more peaceful we make your pet’s visit the more inclined they are to be calm and settled on their next return to the vets.

Routine diagnostic tests (microscopy) are also conducted here in the consult room so owners can actually see what we are talking about under the microscope- but only if they want too!

The Treatment Area

The treatment area is the most used space at the clinic.

This is where pre surgery examinations are conducted, animals are initially anaesthetised, teeth scales and cat grooming are conducted, bloods are taken, catheters are placed, and the list goes on...
